Who Can Use a Mobility Scooter?

Mobility scooter head to head

Mobility scooters are an excellent way of enabling the disabled to travel and move around freely, but what you must not forget is that there are laws as to who can use a mobility scooter in the first place.

If you aren’t disabled, then you are only permitted to drive a mobility scooter if you are involved in its sale and are demonstrating how to use it. A non-disabled person is also only allowed to use it if they are training a disabled person, or if they are taking the scooter for repair. Otherwise, the law clearly states that a Class 2 and 3 vehicle can only be operated by a disabled person. Class 3 vehicles come with age restrictions too and can only be operated by disabled individuals over the age of 14.

Being disabled literarily means – possessing an injury, physical impairment, or medical problem that prevents them from walking, or hinders their ability to walk.
